Suggestion on Email accounts for TAC members

Paul YangPaul Yang Wed 18 Jun 2025 2:15AMPublicSeen by 20

Since the TAC will work more closely with the Corporation to represent the 6 communities, it could be more convenient for the TAC members to have distinguished email accounts to make their identities recognizable in the communities.

Email domain suffixes could be openssl-corporation.org, openssl-corporation-tac.org and so forth.

Not quite sure if the pure original openssl.org email suffix still works for this scenario or not.

I considered to set up a poll in this thread, but didn't find out how to do that.. (Found out...)

openssl.org

openssl-corporation.org

I prefer to have a real accessible website domain as the email suffix.

No, I don't need an extra Email.

I don't expect to be emailing with the community. I expect to be using the communities forum.

I am not sure: should this be something like [email protected] and [email protected], and redirected to an email of our choosing until we are in office?
What happens when the representative steps down in favor of a new one?
If it was one more inbox to poll, I am not sure how productive it would be. Probably I'd rather have the conversations in the open here on Loomio.

I don't require an openssl email address at this point in time.

We'd need to understand the goal better. If we think there are community members who will not engage via the forum, but would via email...then I wonder if the forum system is extensible to provide an email-to-thread and back process so we could have [tb]ac-community which starts a thread with the current representative...

Well personally, I dont see any harm in having an openssl email id. Well I am also considering things outside this forum also- when I personally would like to represent openssl in webinars/seminars or workshops or any events then they usually ask for business email(and personal email don't work in such case) and having an openssl email would definitely help in such case however i do understand the concern of other folks too.

@Aditya Koranga This is a good point. Sometimes we need to use a 'business email' to participate in meetings / events on behalf of OpenSSL TAC instead of the companies / organizations that we daily work for.
