Statement

I would like nominate myself for one more term as the Large Business Community (LBC) representative on the BAC. My background hasn't changed (other than I am another year older!). My reasons for wanting to continue this journey for 2 more years have evolved a bit.

Over this past year I have gained enormous respect for OpenSSL Project and the incredible value they bring to ..... everyone. I have been humbled and excited to be part of this journey. I am a huge advocate for giving back to the open source organizations that have created an incredible amount of value and innovation. Serving as the LBC representative to the BAC is a small part of this giving back.

Since the BAC/TAC were a new thing starting last year, I have seen the engagement grow with the communities. We have monthly meetings where community members are free to share their thoughts or concerns. These are open meetings where community members can speak directly with other members of the community as well as directly to members of OpenSSL. While attendance has been spotty, it has improved and I would like to continue these and hone them with specific agenda items for discussion. Still a work in progress but getting better!

Additionally, I would love to enable more face to face meetings of the community. Events like ICMC or RSA for face to face meetings would be helpful to forge the relationships and trust with the community members. I am very excited about the possibility of doing these.

Assisting with OpenSSL's inaugural conference (and the second annual conference) in Prague was a phenomenal experience and just increased my enthusiasm and reinforced my commitment to serving the OpenSSL organization.

Speaking of relationships, that has been an unexpected part of this.... I have met and come to know members of the community but also other members of the BAC across communities. Learning from them and just knowing them has been an honor.

I am hopeful to continue in order to put the LBC on much more solid ground for the subsequent LBC representative(s) to the BAC. Together we have made progress but I would be thrilled to continue this for one more year.

As far as the company statements and endorsements, Cisco is committed to supporting OpenSSL as well. As such, my leadership supports my time and travel in this role.

Statement

I have over 16 years of experience in the federal certifications field, managing compliance with frameworks such as Common Criteria, FIPS, and DoDIN within the United States, as well as various international certification schemes. My career includes work with multiple certification laboratories, conducting evaluations across a wide range of vendors and product types. Additionally, I have led my organization's secure SDLC initiatives, ensuring compliance with government mandates and maintaining a strong security posture. These efforts demonstrate our commitment to delivering products that meet rigorous security and compliance requirements, providing assurance to our customers.

In my current role as Chief Technologist for Platform Trust, I serve as a lead subject matter expert on cryptography to provide platform security and trust (TPM usage, code signing, inter-platform communication). Furthermore, I lead the business units' transition to post-quantum cryptography in coordination with company-wide efforts, oversee our various PKI implementations, and participate and/or lead the relevant standards bodies and industry associations.

This experience aligns with the Corporation Advisory Committees focus on driving business strategy against market requirements based upon industry and organizational needs.

Statement

I have spent a significant amount of time in the TLS space, dealing with OpenSSL and other open-source cryptographic libraries used in various companies he has worked for. I am heavily involved in standards in the IETF related to TLS, PKI and post-quantum cryptography. I have published and worked on interesting security and cryptography problems and have a lot of experience with vulnerability management and responsible disclosure. My experience will give the perspective of how OpenSSL can remain relevant and useful to large corporations that take security seriously.
