🔹 Nominate Your Institution Voting Representative

Dear Academics Community Members,

This is a critical step in ensuring your institution has a voice in OpenSSL’s Projects governance. Each institution in the Academics Community is entitled to one vote, and only the designated voting representative will be able to cast that vote. If your institution does not nominate a representative, you will not be able to participate in the upcoming Technical Advisory Committee elections.

What You Need to Do Now:

  1. Choose a representative from your scholarly institution.

  2. Submit their details (name and institution name):

We will confirm receipt of your nomination within 3 business days. If you do not receive confirmation, please follow up to ensure your representative is properly registered.

I'm not sure how to react to that TBH - tcd.ie tend to dislike people claiming to represent 'em as an org without being asked but afaik I'm the only one here from there, so is it considered ok to just self-nominate? (If not, I'd expect asking college this question would be fairly fruitless and time consuming, so I'd probably skip.)

@Stephen Farrell Self-nomination for a voting representative is based on individual participation in the community. No formal approval from the college is needed, as the goal is to involve active community participants rather than institutional representatives.

If multiple representatives from your institution are part of the community, it’s sufficient to discuss it among those who are registered here.

The process differs only for those running for a seat in an advisory committee. In that case, approval is required from someone ‘up the management chain’ to confirm that the nominee is permitted to dedicate 10% of their work time to advisory committee activities and attend one in-person meeting per year in Europe.

We’ve collected the necessary information from most members, but there are a few for whom we couldn’t verify an affiliation. I’ve reached out to them personally.
