Dear colleagues,
As you remember, there was a poll in January about the community priorities.

Here is the summary of the requests state as of now.

The questions who were of interest at all in the poll

Feature/Task

Current state

Regression testing (e.g. Python, Node, Ruby)

Not done

Patch upstreaming

Not sure how many patches coming from distros were landed in 4.0, some definitely were

Configurability (crypto-policies, x509 requirements)

https://github.com/openssl/openssl/pull/30085

EVP_sha256() should use fetch internally (for speed)

Not done

Session resumption performance

https://github.com/openssl/openssl/issues/30456

Publicity work: talking the talk

Needs comments from upstream

EVP prefetch & caching (store freeze)

https://github.com/openssl/openssl/tree/feature/method-store-freeze

Always green CI

Looks like it is done to a reasonable extent.

OpenSSL language bindings / Rust crate

A subject to discussion at F2F meeting

Statically linked FIPS (provider)

Looks like no interest

Rust crypto under OpenSSL umbrella

A subject to discussion at F2F meeting

Also later there was a poll for reintroduction of FIPS_mode macro with clear outcome, also discussed as a BAC poll and got 2 of 5 voices for + one delayed voice

I would like to encourage the OpenSSL Corporation to provide feedback in case I've missing anything.

Also I want to encourage the distro community to provide the topics to the upcoming May TAC/BAC F2F
