Monthly TAC Call: Scheduled at 12:00 - 13:00 UTC

Dear TAC members,
I’ve scheduled our monthly TAC call for the same time slot we used for the kickoff call, from 12:00 to 13:00 UTC.
This will be our recurring forum for TAC members and the OpenSSL Corporation Board to meet. The agenda is open, so you are welcome to bring forward discussion points, share insights, and provide feedback directly to the Board. It's a key opportunity to advise on technical matters and contribute to the direction of the OpenSSL Library.
Looking forward to seeing you there. Feel free to suggest agenda topics in this thread.
Best,
Anton

I'd like to have two topics to discuss:
the email stuff: https://openssl-communities.org/d/1wifYvBF/suggestion-on-email-accounts-for-tac-members
a proposal of an offline meet-up about PQC in HK: https://openssl-communities.org/d/20dfiDGC/proposal-pqc-web3-meetup-in-hongkong

I raised the Distro community to add something to the agenda.
I also ask to add the autogenerated files topic (https://openssl-communities.org/d/DE64YH7c/dealing-with-autogenerated-files) to the agenda.

I would like to talk about why the TAC groups seems like a step backwards relative to the OTC (in terms of the committer group I represent). I suggested holding committer meetings, but got little feedback, and it was also communicated that the meetings were not necessary now that there is a TAC. So what we have now is individuals submitting PR's that are approved by 2 reviewers, regardless of if there are API changes or design decisions.
The OTC was made up of members that are now in separate groups for foundation and corporation, and there is some specialized knowledge that certain members of the groups possess, so the TAC making decisions without feedback/input from these groups seems counter-intuitive. So I would like it to be a bit more clear about what the intention of the OTC really is, and does anyone have suggestions on how to interact with the committers in an effective manner. I believe that the many of the OpenSSL resources are probably busy, but that will probably always be the case (regardless of conferences).

The sooner the better

Please note that the meeting is scheduled for October, not September 8 (next Monday).

Aditya Koranga Fri 5 Sep 2025 2:39PM
@Anton Arapov There is no meeting on sept 8th then?

Anton Arapov Fri 5 Sep 2025 2:49PM
@Aditya Koranga I apologize for the confusion I created. We do have a meeting on September 8. I will delete the poll above, we'll determine the timing for the next call at the TAC meeting this Monday, Sept.8;

@Anton Arapov Sure, no problem :)

One point for the agenda: I would like to present the survey results that was done on the Individuals group(anonymously): https://openssl-communities.org/d/E7dkvf5s/ping-individuals
[Would take around 10 minutes]
